Changes to Media Category Awards
The Jockey Club of Canada announces changes to Media Category Awards
July 23, 2012 Toronto, ON – In an effort to encompass all mediums from which people receive information, stories and news, The Jockey Club of Canada is pleased to announce changes to the Sovereign Award Media Category for 2012.
Effective immediately, there will now be three categories in which to enter submissions for the media portion of the awards. The new categories are: Writing; Photograph; and Digital Audio/visual and Broadcast.
The internet has changed the way people access news and information. The former media categories and their regulations were outdated,” commented Jockey Club of Canada Executive Director, Stacie Roberts, “The main focus of the media awards is to recognize outstanding coverage of our sport and to increase positive exposure of our sport through the media. We recognize that the internet now plays an important role in the media landscape and these changes reflect that.”
The deadline for submissions has also been changed to December 31 of each year and all submissions must now be sent by email.
