2008 Thoroughbred Ratings

The Jockey Club of Canada today released the 2008 Canadian Thoroughbred
Ratings compiled by Steve Lym, Director of Thoroughbred Racing and Racing Secretary
at Woodbine Racetrack.

Any horse that finished 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in a stakes race in Canada was eligible to be rated
on their best performance at any distance.

Canadian Thoroughbred Ratings are determined by applying a criteria similar to that used
by World Thoroughbreds Rankings panel to rate horses using the following distance
categories: Sprint – Mile – Intermediate – Long – Extended. Sprint ratings cover races
up to 7 ½ furlongs. Mile distances include those greater than 7 ½ furlongs and less than 1
3/16 miles. Intermediate distances range from 1 3/16 miles to 1 5/16 miles. The Long
and Extended categories are combined and cover any distance longer than 1 5/16 miles.

Weight concessions and a beaten lengths formula are also factored into the ratings.
Fatal Bullet, Canada’s 2008 Horse of the Year and 2008 Champion Sprinter received the
best overall ranking at 119, due to his 2nd place finished at the 2008 Breeders’ Cup Sprint.
Two fillies tied for 2nd place at a ranking of 118; Ventura for her win in the 2008
Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint and Forever Together for her win in the 2008
Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf.

In the Mile category, Harlem Rocker was ranked at 116 for his performance in the Hill’n’
Dale Cigar Mile Handicap, while Canada’s 2008 Champion Male Turf Horse, Rahy’s
Attorney ranked 115 for his win in the 2008 Woodbine Mile.

In the Long/Extended category, German bred 6 year old Quijano ranked 118 for his 2nd
place finish in the Northern Dancer Turf Stakes at Woodbine.

2 year-old filly C Karma earned a rating of 106 for her win in the Natalma Stakes G3 and
2 year-old colt Southern Exchange earned a rating of 106 for his victory in the Colin
Stakes at Woodbine.
